In the Corinth Square shopping area in Prairie Village sits this fountain.  It is outside of SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza at the northeast corner of the main central building.  It is a two-tiered fountain with a bubbler in each tier.  There is a curved pergola standing over the path around the east and north sides of the fountain.

Carroll Plaza Fountain

Carroll Plaza is dedicated to Ralph Carroll, a former superintendant of Public Works in Prairie Village.  It’s a small park with a path, lights, flowers, shrubs and this fountain.

Be forewarned though if you go looking for this fountain, closest place to park is a bit north and across the street on Mission Road and Mission can get a bit busy, especially so close to 75th.

Prairie Village City Hall Fountain

Prairie Village City Hall 002

Location:  Prairie Village City Hall, 7700 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS

Found:  June 18, 2014

As you’re walking up to the courtyard between the Prairie Village City Hall and Police Department, you can see the two fountains shooting water up into the air from the parking lot.  However, you have to get into the courtyard itself to see the full extent of the fountain.  The water starts at the top, on the City Hall side, and cascades down steps into the pool in the courtyard.  The pool contains the two fountains you can see from the parking lot.

The fountain is dedicated to the memory of Bette Philips, a former city clerk and respected long-time employee of the city of Prairie Village.

Cherokee and 71st Fountain

Cherokee and 71st 001

Location:  Cherokee Drive and W 71st Street, Prairie Village, KS

Found:  June 18, 2014

This fountain is found on the traffic island formed where Cherokee Drive forks off of West 71st Street.  The fountain features a cherub or angel holding what I think is a fish.  The water for the fountain comes out of the fish’s mouth.  There are three fauns, or satyrs, sitting around the bowl of the fountain and then the water falls into the basin below.  The basin had very little water in it when I took the picture.  A lion’s head can be found at the base of the fountain.  There are nice flowers and plants planted around the basin and a small tree grows behind the fountain.

If this fountain has a particular name, I have not been able to find it.  Therefore, I have named it after the streets.

Fountain stands at the “official” entrance to the city of Prairie Village.  I do not know if the grass in the fountain is actually a part of the fountain or if it just started growing there and no one ever did anything about it.
