LDS Kansas City Temple Fountain
Found: May 7, 2016
It is located just west of Interstate 435 between Kansas City and Liberty and south of Shoal Creek Parkway. You can see the twin spires reaching up to the sky from the highway. It is a big and dramatic building from afar and also from close up. This was the first, and so far only, affiliated LDS temple built in the Kansas City. That is a gold-coloured sculpture of the Angel Moroni, the angel that appeared to Joseph Smith, on top of the front spire.
The fountain is in front of the main entrance to the temple in a very well-maintained and landscaped garden area. Trees, plants and flowers are everywhere with plenty of benches to sit. The whole temple area, including the garden and fountain, are within a big black fence but the gates have been open each of the two or three times I have visited. This was the first time I visited where the fountain was on and/or there wasn’t a crew working on the landscaping and the fountain.
I had taken a bunch of pictures and was turning to leave when I heard a “whoosh” behind me. I turned around and the big jets in the top of fountain were going. So, I took another set of pictures with the jets in the middle until they died back down. They had come back to life as I was driving out of the parking lot.
